I have had a few big orders in the last couple of weeks. That’s been a really good thing. I am still gearing up to do a Farmer’s Market!
I am still working on getting the store set up on my site so that people can buy from here. Then I need to get business cards! After that my next project is changing the packaging to a sealed bag that the customers can open themselves!
It’s been so busy with this being Christmas week! So I thought I could share a few dog and house tips for my readers!
You might already know about this but buy a pack of pet hair rollers. If you don’t know about this, you will love it and thank me for mentioning it! But use those hair rollers to dust everything in your house! You can dust your sofa, lamp shades, blankets, curtains, and anything else that is hard to dust. Best part is that you don’t get dust flying around the house. This tip is one of the best tips that I use. I love it!
Also, a reminder! Please give your dogs heartworm medication. The cost is cheap to prevent the disease. If your dog gets sick from heartworms you are looking at a very very steep vet bill and worse, a family pet that has a good chance of dying from it. It’s so important. My two rescue Dachshunds both had it before I adopted them. They were treated and are healthy now but not all dogs are so lucky. Many die and lots of complications for life. Prevention is so important. Please remember that!
And spay and neuter your pets. The health benefits for spaying and neutering are astounding. It can save your pet and save your wallet down the road. Not only that but it helps keep your pet safe from an unwanted pregnancy and that’s important because of the overpopulation of dogs. Spay female animals (this goes for cats, rats, and many others) can save their lives. Female animals are at risk for all sorts of female cancers and female organ complications. Spaying will prevent these issues. Neutering a male dog can help with aggression issues, training issues, and marking issues.
And something really important: ADOPT don’t buy. And if you MUST buy, make sure you are buying from a good breeder. One that will take all of the steps to insure the safety of the animal and take the process to heart. Don’t buy from stores, sides of roads, or other similar types of places. A good breeder doesn’t make a profit. They don’t sell for profit. They sell for making the breed healthy and strong by breeding the right way. There are several websites you can read about how to find a good breeder. But remember, shelters often have pure breeds if that’s what you want. There are also rescues for just about every breed of dog out there. So before you think about buying a dog, PLEASE considering adopting. It saves a life and makes room to save another.
And please visit http://www.atdr.org/ and make a donation. It can be as small as you can afford. Everything adds up. These donations go to saving more animals, their vet bills, and keeping the rescue running. Take the time this holiday season and donate to a rescue or shelter that needs help!
Merry Christmas!
